About Me

I baked and decorated my first cake at age nine. It was a simple sheet cake made from a box mix and frosting from a can. I piped on a large smiley face and the words “Jesus Loves Me”. And while I’m still sure he loves me, I think he loves cake too! Who doesn’t after all?

In the many (ok not that many now) years that followed that first cake, I continued baking, trying my hand at other cakes and cookies and everything in between. It wasn’t always pretty and it wasn’t always tasty, but luckily sometimes it was pretty and it was really tasty. It’s the successes that kept me going then and still keep me going. The failures are valuable too as they are the lessons learned. Sometimes the lesson is, “I never want to bake THAT again”, but with each attempt I continue to learn.

In this blog, I want to document these baking adventures and share with my readers those lessons learned, pass along the wisdom I’ve acquired from experience and from what others have shared with me. I intend to document not only the pretty successes, but the ugly failures too. No one gets it right 100% of time. Ok…maybe some people do, but I don’t want to know those people because I bet they are really annoying!

I’m not a professional and I have no formal training. I just love sweets and I love putting a smile on people’s faces…baking is the perfect marriage of those two loves! I hope you enjoy my adventures and please feel free to leave a comment, share an story, ask a question, offer advice…just let me know you are out there!
